Enthusiastic About Reading: My Favorite Books of 2022!

This year, I gave myself a goal of reading 12 books and since I received so many amazing book recommendations, I ended up reading 25!

Check out the 23 books that I recommend (in the order that I read them) and let me know what books to add to my 2023 list!

Aristotle and Dante Dive into the Waters of the World by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

I loved this book! It is a sequel and it is so well-written and will definitely make you cry.

Invisible Women: Data Bias in a World Designed for Men by Caroline Criado Perez

I highly recommend this book especially to men because women will already know a lot of what is in this book.

The Truth and Other Hidden Things by Lea Geller

This was a quick and entertaining read. It reminded me a lot of the Netflix show ‘You’ but without the murders.

Perfectamente Tú: El Poder de lo Auténtico by Mariana Atencio

I loved this book! Very entertaining, inspirational and thought provoking.

Oola by Brittany Newell

This was one of the most unique books I read in 2022: it had a very slow build up and was a little weird. I didn’t get super into it until the last few chapters but once it got good, it got good!

What Would Frida Do? A Guide to Living Boldly by Arianna Davis

I loved this book so much! If you are a fan of Frida, you will love it. If you are not a fan of Frida, you will become a fan.

Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones by James Clear

This was hands down my favorite non-fiction book of 2022. There were so many practical tips and lessons and it was so entertaining to read!

My Broken Language: A Memoir by Quiara Alegria Hudes

I loved this book! There were a few chapters that I couldn’t get into, but overall it was a great read. I learned a lot about Puerto Rico and the author.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

This was one of my favorite fiction books of 2022. It was so good that I could not stop reading and I ended up finishing it in two days. Highly recommend!

Immune: A Journey Into the Mysterious System That Keeps You Alive by Philipp Dettmer

I highly recommend this book. I learned a ton about the immune system and the book itself was pretty easy to digest.

The Island of Sea Women by Lisa See

This was such a powerful read. It was powerful, inspiring and women were at the center of the entire story. I highly recommend!

Bossypants by Tina Fey

I loved this book, Tina Fey is so hilarious and literally had me laughing out loud.

Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi

This was such a good book, it starts out a bit slow but then gets very emotional and powerful.

The Power by Naomi Alderman

I finished this book in two days because I desperately needed to know what would happen at the end. There are some difficult parts of the story but overall I recommend. It was super interesting and thought provoking.

Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick

I loved this book! It was hilarious yet deep and emotional at the same time. I found myself laughing out loud and also thinking and reflecting about what it means to live a life you love.

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

This was such a great book and a new favorite! It was so powerful and moving and entertaining all at once.

The Deepest Well: Healing the Long-Term Effects of Childhood Adversity by Nadine Burke-Harris

This was such an insightful and powerful read. I highly recommend this to anyone who comes from a difficult childhood or who knows someone with a difficult childhood as it provides a lot of perspective.

Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand

This book was a little long but definitely interesting. I recommend to anyone who is a history fan.

Can’t Even: How Millennials Became the Burnout Generation by Anne Helen Peterson

This was one of my new favorite non-fiction books of 2022. I have been recommending this book left and right to all of my Millennial friends. Reading this book made me feel seen in good and bad ways.

Siri, Who Am I? by Sam Tschida

This book was such a fun read. I really enjoyed it and loved the ending. I recommend if you’re lookign for something light and fun with a little edge.

Dear Haiti, Love Alaine by Maritza Moulite

This was such a fun and interesting book that taught me a lot about Haiti. I recommend this to any child of immigrants.

One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

This was one of my favorite books of the year, I definitely understand why so many people love the book. The entire book is so interesting and full of beautiful language!

Lessons in Chemistry: A Novel by Bonnie Garmas

I loved this book so much that I read it in one day. I highly recommend this book to women in male dominated fields as you will relate to so much.
