Hi friends! This week’s blog is all about how to survive a very extreme Girls’ Night Out (GNO)/Pre-Bachelorette party in LA lol. It was such a fantastic weekend and a huge factor of it being such a fantastic weekend was that it was a very EXTREME weekend. I’ll jump right in!
It all started Friday night when we left Phoenix and started driving to LA at around MIDNIGHT. Not even joking lol, we literally did not sleep much of the weekend.
We got to LA at around 6am and had a quick breakfast and then got ready for our day. I went with 3 other friends from high school and I was under the impression that we were going to LA to pick up a friend’s wedding dress and then do a little partying (aka pre-bachelorette party) because the real bachelorette party will be in Vegas. But apparently I don’t know how to listen because the bride had explained to all of us that we were going wedding dress shopping lol. Anyway we had breakfast in Anaheim and then spent some time in the park having a photoshoot (you know typical bachelorette stuff lol) and it was a very extreme photoshoot. All I will say is that we tried to take a cute picture of me picking up one of the bridesmaids and I dropped her VERY HARD on the concrete because she didn’t count to 3…she just jumped up on me and my knees buckled. I’M REALLY SORRY DONNA lol. After our small photoshoot we made it to the bridal boutique (Mariposa Bridal Boutique in Anaheim). They had BEAUTIFUL dresses. This was my first time ever going wedding dress shopping and let me tell you, I absolutely loved it. I love everything about weddings, so I was very excited. We all helped the bride choose dresses and then she proceeded to try them on (there were about 10/12 dresses in total). The other bridesmaids (and the bride) and I had VERY different tastes when it came to wedding dresses. One bridesmaid loved bling on a dress, another bridesmaid loved a huge tail, I really liked simple designs, and the bride really liked lace. We found a couple of dresses that the bride liked but at least one of the bridesmaids didn’t like something about the dress. It wasn’t until the bride tried on the very last dress that we all agreed (and yes I cried a little lol) that it was perfect. I can’t wait for her wedding so you can all see her dress, it really is perfect. 🙂 I got really hungry halfway through the wedding dress shopping but I didn’t complain because I was really enjoying seeing my friend try on the dresses lol but finally after a few hours we left to go to the hotel and to grab some food. We checked into our hotel, and then decided to walk to find a restaurant (we were in Downtown LA) so we were walking distance to several restaurants. One of the bridesmaids put on heels and we all told her ‘are you sure you want to wear heels? we’re going to be walking’ and she said ‘I’m fine, I can walk in heels’. Remember this conversation because it will be important later on lol.
We started walking and got lunch at a little Mexican restaurant that was pretty good (either that or we were starving lol). After that, we decided to continue walking to find Los Callejones…which if you have never heard of this (like I had), let me tell you about it. Los Callejones is Spanish for ‘The Alleys’ and it is basically miles and miles of small stores and people selling a lot of really cool stuff (clothing, accessories, electronics, make up, basically anything you will ever need). It was a really awesome experience and I got a chance to actually negotiate prices, and I bought some cool stuff. But remember how I said that it is miles and miles long? Well that wouldn’t have been too bad…IF WE HAD FOUND IT RIGHT AWAY AND NOT GOTTEN LOST ON OUR WAY THERE. Apparently, it’s a thing for people in Downtown LA to give you wrong directions when you ask…lol I think we must have walked about 2-3 miles in the hot sun (keep in mind we all thought LA was going to be cold so we were wearing winter clothes) and my friend was wearing heels lol. We almost died. It was hot, our feet were hurting, people kept giving us wrong directions, and we ended up in some pretty sketchy areas. One of my friends got flipped off for no reason lol. Anyway, we finally made it to Los Callejones and it was awesome. I think we must have spent several hours there and we still didn’t even walk the entire location. We will definitely be making a trip back just to shop and we will all wear running shoes to stay comfortable hahaha. After the most extreme shopping I’ve ever done in my life, we made it back to the hotel (smelling really gross I won’t lie lol) and we started to get ready for the night!
We all somehow ended up matching, which was hilarious and definitely not intentional lol. Two of my friends did my make up and gave me great eyebrows, thank you ladies! 🙂 We got a cab to the dance club and when we got there, we didn’t see anyone in line and we thought it was a little weird because it was already 11:15pm. We went up to the bouncer and he gave us a look like we were aliens and then we realized that we were all on ARIZONA time and in reality it was barely 10:15pm, so we rushed to get ready for no reason lol (sorry Donna). We decided to do what I’m sure most bachelorette party groups do, go and grab some food before the club…because who cares if we are bloated right? LOL. We made our way to a little pizza place and it was delicious, super hipster and tasty. Now, here is something pretty cool that happened. For those of you that know me pretty well, (and you can probably see this from my blog/instagram/facebook)) I really enjoy taking pictures. And since I really enjoy taking pictures, I don’t have a problem asking a complete stranger to take my pictures. So this is exactly what I did at the pizza place. There was a young woman in line behind us, and I very politely asked her if she could take a picture of us and she took a great picture of us. I then kept talking to her just because I’m a friendly person and she was really nice. After we ate, we walked back to the club and got in line. It wasn’t until we were at the front and the bouncer asked us if we were on the VIP Guest List that we realized we had gotten in the shorter VIP line. We looked a few feet down and saw a super long line for the ‘regular’ guests. We were about to freak out when the woman with the guest list (who had her back turned to us) turned around and we saw that it was the same woman who had taken our picture!!!! She recognized us and right away said ‘oh they’re cool, they’re celebrating a friend getting married’ AND SHE LET US IN FOR FREE WITH ALL OF THE VIP PEOPLE. It was awesome lol so now nobody can complain when I ask people to take pictures of us lol.
The club we went to was called The Vault and it was super fun, lots of dancing and good memories except for when Donna stepped on my toe with her heel and all of her weight and I almost passed out from the pain in the middle of the dance floor lol. After the club, we took a cab back and most of you who have ever been in a car with me know that I have a horrible habit of slamming car doors shut. Well, when we got to the hotel, one of my friends was a little drunk and for some weird reason she had her hand clutching the side of the taxi door and I accidentally slammed the car door on her finger….IT LOOKED REALLY BAD. I panicked because I thought her finger was broken (YES IT LOOKED THAT BAD). She was a little drunk so she didn’t really feel much pain. Luckily we had a first aid kit (because the bride is amazing and packed a first aid kit along with some hangover kits lol) so we wrapped up her finger. We then had the genius idea that she should finish the half-full bottle of Tequila that we had in the hotel room so that she wouldn’t feel the pain the next morning lol. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT WE WERE THINKING. Anyway, we all go to bed and I take a cough drop before I lay down because I had been coughing all night in the club (embarrassing I know lol) and I gave one to Donna because she was also coughing. So we all drifted off peacefully to sleep but then a few hours later (I checked the time when I woke up) we heard the loudest noise in the world. I seriously thought an earthquake was happening but when I opened my eyes, I see that one of the bridesmaids has fallen onto the floor lol. The bridesmaid with the messed up finger had fallen on the floor THANKS TO THE TEQUILA lol. I felt so bad hahahaha. When Donna and I got up, we realized we had fallen asleep and not swallowed our cough drops so we could have choked and died lol crazy trip, right??? So while we were trying to help the bridesmaid who had fallen down, we were being pretty loud but the bride was sound asleep. We are pretty sure she was faking because she didn’t want to help us with the chaotic situation in the room lol. Anyway after we helped to pick up the fallen bridesmaid (which was a mission lol) we all fell asleep.
The next morning, we all woke up feeling fantastic…except for the fact that my toe was bruised, Donna’s side was bruised from when I dropped her at the park, and the other bridesmaid had a messed up finger lol. It was such a blast lol. We all checked out of the hotel and went to Grand Central Market to grab some delicious breakfast and then we got some fruit cups to go. And now we are all safely home, with some fantastic new memories lol. I can’t wait for the real bachelorette party hahaha stay tuned y’all my life is crazy lol. And keep in mind, I left out a lot of what happened because I’m not trying to share everything online lol for the real fun and juicy stories just ask me and I’ll tell you in person haha. 😉
