Hi friends! This week was super busy but super great at the same time! I picked up a race packet, went to a concert, went to a housewarming party, ran a 5K, hung out with my little sister, chose winners for a scholarship, drove to Tucson to present said scholarship, and today (when this gets published) I will be running another 5K! SO MANY THINGS. Let’s dive a little into the details. I am apologizing in advance for the super long post but this week was full of stuff lol. OH AND I ALSO MANAGED TO WATCH 7 HOURS OF GAME OF THRONES lol.
I went to the Banda El Recodo concert on Friday night WHICH WAS AMAZING. THEY ARE LEGENDARY AND AMAZING LIVE AND I’M SO HAPPY I GOT TO GO WITH MY MOM AND MY SISTER. Sorry for yelling I’m just still so excited about how great it was. It was basically a party all night long. They are fantastic!
My first ever 5K was a success! Super fun, got to run and then party after. Highly recommend the Night Nation Run, definitely going to do it again next year! It’s a 5K with pre-parties and after-parties and parties in between! We got all decked out in glow in the dark gear and dominated that race!! What a great way to celebrate my friend Tim’s birthday! Happy birthday Tim!!! Can’t wait for next year!
If you follow me on instagram, you will already know that I started up a SHPE UA Alumni Conference Scholarship (with fellow alumni) for members of SHPE UA to be able to attend the SHPE National Conference in Baltimore this year. It was so awesome getting donations from alumni and being able to provide this great opportunity. We are already gearing up to give even more scholarships next year, so keep a look out for that 🙂
It was so humbling to read through the applications because I got to see how much of an impact SHPE has already had on these members. As one of the scholarship winners put it, ‘SHPE IS LIFE’. Once we decided the winners, the following day we drove down to Tucson to present the scholarships. We were able to provide FIVE scholarships and help five members get to the conference: an event that helped me grow so much as a professional, as a student, as an engineer, and as a person. We then jumped straight into the Mock Career Fair where we had SO MANY professionals and SHPE UA alumni come by and help the students prepare for the Career Fair the next day. It was so great to see everyone come back and pay it forward to the students. And it was also great to see how much the students had grown in just one year. The amount of experience and the confidence they now had was wonderful to see. Also, I posted the winners of the scholarship onto my instagram account and the official instagram account for SHPE National reposted my picture!! WE ARE FAMOUS 🙂
I got very special messages from a previous SHPE UA President and a previous SHPE UA Executive Vice President that completely made my day regarding the SHPE UA Alumni Conference Scholarship, they said the following:
Previous SHPE UA President: I wanna give special thanks to you for setting all this up. Sit back and reflect that this wouldn’t have happened without you! Keep up the great work and SHPE spirit!
Previous SHPE UA Executive Vice President: You’re awesome because of all the things you have done and the ones you are doing and the things you have planned! Don’t ever change.
Thanks guys, you rock :’)
Now switching gears, I’m ready to complete another 5K (Esprit de She) today (Thursday)! Lets see how this one goes! And I’m also super excited for Albuquerque this weekend!!
Also, the exciting opportunity that I shared in Blog 3 is almost official!! I can’t wait to share with you all what it is. It’s SO AWESOME and it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. Stay tuned for the official announcement SOON!!
Thanks for reading 🙂
