The Ultimate Valle de Guadalupe Bucket List!

I am IN LOVE with my latest winery road trip. If you’ve never been to Valle de Guadalupe (aka Mexican Wine Country), then I highly encourage you to plan a trip! If you are a fan of wine, beautiful views and amazing Mexican food…then Valle de Guadalupe is for you!

I heard it’s referred to as the Napa of Baja and honestly I agree! I’ve been to Napa (and loved it, check out The Ultimate Napa Valley Bucket List) but I think Valle de Guadalupe has my heart. There’s something about going to the motherland and seeing all of the beauty that Mexico has to offer.

Check out all of my recommendations in Valle De Guadalupe (VDG) and let me know if I need to add others!

Where To Stay

We stayed at Don Tomas Viñedo and we absolutely loved it! We chose it because it was close to many of the other wineries that we wanted to check out and the cabins were all so beautiful. We particularly loved that some cabins (including ours) had a retractable roof to see the stars at night! What we loved the most about Don Tomas Viñedo was that they have several cabins that you can rent and it really feels like you have the entire vineyard to yourself. The cabins are beautiful and ours even had a retractable roof so that we could relax and see the stars at night. Check out my full review of Don Tomas Viñedo here.

Food

As I was planning my trip I was pleasantly surprised to see that there are a ton of incredible restaurants there! After visiting for a few days and trying so many different kinds of cuisine, I can guarantee that no matter what you like to eat, you’ll find a great spot in Valle De Guadalupe (VDG). I highly recommend that you make reservations ahead of time if you don’t want to wait for a table. There is so much to eat in VDG that I’ve had to create an entire post about it.

Check out The Ultimate Valle de Guadalupe Food Bucket List! My favorite restaurant was at Casa Frida.

For the entrée, we shared this giant meal: the Asado Diego that came with skirt steak, ribeye, chorizo, fried machaca, seasonal vegetables, guacamole and beans. Everything was amazing but the star of the show for me was the fried machaca. It was so crispy and flavorful! This dish is meant to be shared and it would be perfect for 3-4 people.

Wineries To Explore

While in Valle De Guadalupe, we organized our own winery tour by researching a ton of wineries, selecting the ones that sounded the best, and then we hired a driver through our hotel to take us to each spot.

Casa Frida

We checked out Casa Frida which was definitely the most Instagrammable of the places we visited as there was a ton of Frida Kahlo art. I enjoyed the wine but the art and the food at Casa Frida were definitely the highlight of this visit. There were so many Instagrammable spots in and around the property.

Don Tomas Viñedo

You can also partake in a wine tasting during your stay so of course we did! The service was great, the wines were so good! I’m usually not a rose fan, but their rose was phenomenal! The tasting comes with meat and cheese and we had a surprise visitor as well! I loved the tasting here because the wine was excellent but also because of just how beautiful the surroundings were!

Lechuza Vineyard

We checked out Lechuza Vineyard and we loved it! They had amazing wine in a beautiful location and the staff was super nice and hooked us up with additional tastings! I definitely recommend you check out Lechuza Vineyard. Let me know what you think!

Vena Cava Vinicola

Our first stop was Vena Cava Vinicola and we LOVED it! The wine was incredible and the staff was so knowledgeable and friendly. The winery was designed by Architect Alejandro D’acosta, and you can see reclaimed fishing boats and other recycling materials all around which we thought was super cool!

Villa Montefiori

One of the wineries we visited was Villa Montefiori where they had the best views and really good wine! You are also super close to the vineyards as you walk around the property so of course I had to take this artsy photo of the grapes that will soon be tasty wine!

I had the best time in Valle de Guadalupe and cannot wait to return. I hope this post inspires you visit.
