Akaka Falls State Park Belongs On Your Kona Bucket List!

We visited Akaka Fall State Park while it was raining since we had heard that the rain would give incredible power to the two waterfalls found here! This park is about a 2 hour drive from the main downtown area of Kailua-Kona where we are staying but it is so worth it!

It’s a short nature walk once you get there with a ton of lush nature to see before you hit the two waterfalls. The town of Honomu is a sleepy town but on the way back to Kailua-Kona you can stop and get some delicious malasadas (Hawaiian style donuts that originated from Portugal).

Check out 15 of my favorite photos to convince you to add Akaka Falls State Park to your Kona Bucket List!

I had the best time and cannot wait to return. I hope this post inspires you to visit The Big Island! Stay tuned for The Ultimate Kona (Big Island) Bucket List if you’re interested in learning more about what to do!

Thank you all for reading, and stay enthusiastic!
