If you only have a few hours to learn a little bit of Hawaiian history, see some beautiful palm trees and amazing views of the ocean then I highly recommend you check out Pu’uhonua O Hōnaunau National Historical Park aka The City of Refuge. There’s SO MUCH history here and the history comes alive as you walk around and soak it all in. This area is called the City of Refuge because back in the old days if you broke the law and were sentenced to death, you could come here and be safe from harm. West Fork trail is a beautiful hike with the best destination: an incredible waterfall. This trail is 6.5 miles out and back and is rated as moderately challenging. It’s a great way to spend a morning as it is a pretty lengthy hike. Check out all of my photos to inspire you to visit!

If you’re looking for an activity that doesn’t involve (much) hiking, then check out Amitabha Stupa and Peace Park in Sedona, Arizona! It is a sacred site in a beautiful location, very peaceful, and you can meditate and renew your spirituality here. I personally love the sculptures in the area. Has anyone been here? If you’ve never been on a train ride before, I highly recommend Verde Canyon Railroad because the views are astounding and you are able to walk around in the fresh air with a drink in your hand. Train rides seriously provide the most epic of views and they’re made even more epic when enjoyed with the best company. I loved staying at Briar Patch Inn in Sedona and highly recommend them. I felt far away from civilization and totally immersed in nature….but still had access to a warm bed and a hot shower.
