Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau (City of Refuge) Belongs On Your Kona Bucket List!

If you only have a few hours to learn a little bit of Hawaiian history, see some beautiful palm trees and amazing views of the ocean then I highly recommend you check out Pu’uhonua O Hōnaunau National Historical Park aka The City of Refuge. There’s SO MUCH history here and the history comes alive as you walk around and soak it all in. This area is called the City of Refuge because back in the old days if you broke the law and were sentenced to death, you could come here and be safe from harm. Check out my Hōnaunau instagram story for more fun videos/photos! Am I making you want to book a trip to Hawaii yet!? #LetHawaiiHappen #MairaInHI #BucketList #CityOfRefuge #EnthusiasticAboutClouds

Check out 15 of my favorite photos to convince you to add Makalawena/Pu’u Ali’i Beach to your Kona Bucket List!
