I’m STILL working on the Ultimate Arizona Bucket List, there is just so much to do here in Arizona…but you already know that I will be including plenty of hiking! If you are in North Phoenix and looking for a mountain to hike alone, with friends or with your dog, I highly recommend Deem Hills!

Deem Hills has almost 1,000 acres of the Sonoran Desert and is known for it’s unique volcanic rock formations. I love the color of these rocks because it truly feels like you are not in Arizona.

Palisade Trail in Northern Phoenix (Deem Hills Park) is such a great hike! At the top, you can enjoy the beautiful view of northern Phoenix and it’s also not a super difficult hike. The darker rocks are also a nice change from typical Phoenix hiking scenery.

This mountain is also a great park for dog lovers and for beginners because the trails are not very difficult, but they are a bit long (Deem Hills Circumference Trail is 5.7 miles) so bring plenty of water!  

I did notice that most of the trails were not super crowded so if you want to do more of a solitary hike, then I highly recommend you check out Deem Hills!
