The Ultimate Cartagena Bucket List!

When I visited Colombia for the first time, I absolutely fell in love with Cartagena even though it was super hot when we visited! There’s so much history, amazing neighborhoods, art, culture and everything you could want! Check out The Ultimate Cartagena Bucket List and let me know if you’re inspired to visit!

Explore Getsemani

Getsemani is a cool neighborhood in Cartagena that is full of color, restaurants and bars! We explored Getsemani to admire the buildings and had a few drinks as well.

Enjoy the art around town

Castillo de San Felipe

The Castillo San Felipe de Barajas is a fortress in the city of Cartagena, Colombia. It’s a huge castle that was built in 1536 and you can spend hours exploring! Check out more photos to inspire you to visit here!

Las Botas Viejas

Las Botas Viejas also known as “Old Boots,” is a bronze sculpture of shoes created as a tribute to poet Luis Carlos Lopez.

Walled City of Cartagena

Welcome to the Walled City of Cartagena (Ciudad Amarullada). That’s right, there are actual walls surrounding old town Cartagena! Highly recommend you stop by the Walled City to see the historic walls, the colonial architecture, and the restaurants, bars and shops! It’s a beautiful area but of course when I saw the walls, I asked myself “why” and google told me that the walls were built to defend the city from pirate attacks back in the day. Nowadays, the walls stick around due to historical reasons and in 1984, the walled city and fortress was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. One of my favorite roof top bars Alquimico is near here and it’s a must stop for sure.

Cartagena’s old city is its principal attraction, especially the inner walled town that consists of the historical districts of El Centro and San Diego. The architecture within is beautiful and has churches, monasteries, plazas, palaces and mansions. You can also shop and eat here.

Check out El Arsenal: The Rum Box

My friend Juan Carlos recommended El Arsenal for food, drinks, and good vibes and it was all of that and more! Our server was amazing and recommended so many other things for us to check out in Cartagena!

Alquimico Bar

Alquimico Bar was my favorite cocktail bar in Cartagena. We tried aguardiente here and all of the cocktails were excellent and the bar had such a great ambiance!

Get drinks at Lunatico

Lunatico is a cool spot in the Getsemani neighborhood to get drinks!

I had the best time in Cartagena and cannot wait to return. I hope this post inspires you visit.
