I visited Dallas back in 2015 to spend time with family and go to a concert and there was so much to do especially if you love history! Check out all of my recommendations and let me know if you’re inspired to visit.
Food and Drink
TACO GARAGE
I’m a big fan of Tex Mex food and Taco Garage was a great spot to check out. Their fajitas, rice, beans, and homemade tortillas were so good! They have locations in San Antonio, Corpus Christi and Dallas. The strawberry chamoy margarita was perfect!
LA GUADALUPANA
My uncle showed us his favorite taco spot in Dallas! It’s a taqueria, carniceria and fruteria called La Guadalupana and the tacos de deshebrada (shredded beef) are hands down some of the best I’ve had! The meat was just super delicious and juicy and so amazing that we came here for lunch and dinner.
What To See and Do
SIXTH FLOOR MUSEUM
The Sixth Floor Museum is the building where Lee Harvey Oswald was in when he fired the shots that killed President JFK. The floor that he was on (6th floor) has been converted into a museum and the building itself has been classified as a historic place. I wasn’t sure quite what to expect from reading the reviews on google but I just kept seeing over and over ‘just go, very emotional’ so I decided to give it a shot. There are no pictures allowed in the museum and when you walk in, they give you headphones and an audio player that guides you throughout the museum. The museum had a lot of pictures and videos of JFK’s life, his legacy as president, the assassination, and what happened after. It was a very emotional and powerful experience because you feel very connected to the history and as you walk through, the air is very tense. I learned a lot about President JFK, such as the fact that he started the Peace Corps, was a huge factor in the Space Race, and was the youngest president elected at the time. President JFK was also very ahead of his time and it’s a shame that he was taken the way he was taken, by someone as inconsequential as Lee Harvey Oswald. I highly recommend this museum to anyone who is ever in the Dallas area. Set aside at least 2 hours to get the full experience. I walked out feeling very very sad, but it was a very touching experience. I bought some souveniers and my favorite souvenier was a dish that had one of my favorite President JFK quotes on it: ‘One person can make a difference, and everyone should try’.
REUNION TOWER
Going to the top of Reunion Tower in Dallas and seeing the 360 degree view of the city was so awesome! I basically have every observation deck in the world on my bucket list because I love the way the wind feels this high up and the views are always spectacular.
DEALEY PLAZA
Dealey Plaza, is where President JFK was assassinated. We walked to the grassy knoll and looked out to the street where it happened. There is a big white ‘X’ marking the very spot where President JFK was when he was shot. It was very surreal to see it in person and really understand that someone so consequential as the President of the US had died there. It was a very powerful moment and I encourage you all to go check it out for yourself, if you ever get the chance.

RIPLEY’S BELIEVE IT OR NOT MUSEUM
Ripley’s Believe It Or Not museum in Dallas was full of fun facts! And those who know me, know that those are my favorite kind of facts!
Fun fact about sharks: Two-thirds of a shark’s brain is dedicated to its sense of smell.
Fun fact: the tallest man in the world was almost 4 feet taller than me.
LOUIS TUSSAUD’S PALACE OF WAX
MARGARET HUNT HILL BRIDGE
We then went to go check out the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge which was really interesting! The weather was perfect the whole time we were there!
CLUB DADA
I checked out Club DaDa to go to JoJo’s concert! The concert was fantastic, one of the best I’ve been to because I knew basically ever song, the venue was very intimate and she was hilarious. At one point, she was talking about a song that she wrote when she was 12 and she said ‘I wrote this song when I was 12 when I knew everything about love’ lol.
I hope you all enjoyed the list! Thank you all for reading, and stay enthusiastic!
