You Need To Add The Vatican Museums and The Sistine Chapel To Your Rome Bucket List!

I always recommend The Vatican Museums and The Sistine Chapel to folks if you go to Rome, regardless of if you are religious or not. There’s so much history, the architecture and interior are so beautiful, and no matter what you believe, there is a feeling of otherworldly in there. Check out all of my photos to inspire you to visit.

If you book early enough, you can purchase cheap tickets at the official website here. If you book late, you will have to book third party tickets which will be more expensive. We got our tickets through Tiqets because we dropped the ball and started looking at tickets way too late. The nice thing about getting your tickets through a third party website is that even though you pay a little more, you sometimes get the convenience of being able to wait in a shorter line to get in.

We really enjoyed walking around the outside of The Vatican and taking in all of the architecture.

This is what you see when you walk into The Sistine Chapel (your first stop) and get ready to do some walking because The Sistine Chapel is huge!

Make sure to look up because the ceilings are so intricate!

Make sure to wear appropriate clothing when you enters as this is a holy place. I just brought a scarf with me and it worked out. The official website lists this as the dress code:

As with many other churches throughout Italy, there is a dress code that must be adhered to upon entry, and the Vatican is no different. The absolute minimum requirement for both males and females visiting the Vatican City is to cover both your knees and shoulders. Preferably you should wear long trousers and long-sleeve shirts, but in the summer months when temperatures can reach over 30 degrees Celcius many visitors forget this requirement.

There are only a few places where you are not allowed to take photos so just make sure to abide by the rules and be respectful, otherwise you will be asked to leave.

I had the best time and cannot wait to return. I hope this post inspired you to visit Rome. Check out The Ultimate Rome Bucket List for more inspiration.
